Some words that offer good alliteration for Thursday include: therein, thematic, through, throughout, thereby, therefore, thereon, there’s, thereupon, therewithal and thermal. Alliteration is created when two or more words are put together that begin with the same sound. In this case it is the “th” sound. A very famous example of alliteration comes from Edgar Allan Poe’s poem The Raven. Its first line is: “Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary…” The alliterative words here are “once,”“while,”“weak” and “weary.” Notice that to be alliterative, they don’t all have to start with the same letter(s), just the same sound. The device of alliteration runs throughout The Raven.
