In the book The Count Of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas, Barrois is the faithful servant of Monsieur de Noirtier, Valentine's grandfather.
In chapter 44 of the book Barrois ends up dead after suffering fits from poisoned lemonade. Valentine is suspected of poisoning him because she is the one who gave him the lemonade. The poison was meant for someone else and is kept a secret.
The first sequel to the book, The Sultan Of Monte Cristo was released on August 20, 2012 as a downloadable ebook. There were 546 downloads of the ebook in the first 2 hours after its release.
